If so, we are looking for an Associate, Community Engagement to join our growing team at Capita and to help shape how we communicate and engage with our audiences around the globe.

We seek a proactive and creative Associate, Community Engagement, to strengthen and grow relationships in our growing community of organizations and individuals who are our intellectual, programmatic, and financial partners. This role will focus on strengthening connections with individuals who have engaged with our organization- such as past event participants, newsletter readers, donors, and social media followers – and cultivating new connections through thoughtful outreach and content strategies.

The ideal candidate is outgoing with a knack for digital engagement and community building.

We are looking for a candidate based in a time zone complementary to South America, or the eastern U.S. This is a fully remote position and we welcome candidates from the U.S. or abroad. It is a 4-month fixed-term role with the potential for renewal.

You will work closely with our CEO, Senior Associate, Communications, and the rest of the Capita team, as well as our contractors, board members, and partners based across the U.S. and globally.

Key roles and responsibilities

Community Outreach & Relationship Building

  • Work closely with the CEO to engage with individuals who have attended past events, donated, or interacted with newsletters and social media
  • Conduct personalized outreach to strengthen connections and encourage continued involvement.
  • Track and manage interactions in CRM or spreadsheets to support long-term relationship building
  • Support the Family Policy Lab by engaging with State Members on a regular basis through personalized outreach and group convenings.

Digital Engagement

  • Monitor and respond to comments, likes, and shares on LinkedIn posts
  • Identify and engage with prospects on LinkedIn who align with our mission and community
  • Review Capita content regularly and collaborate with the team to propose creative LinkedIn content ideas.

Community Growth

  • Research and identify new individuals and organizations that may be interested in our work.
  • Conduct outreach to build awareness of Capita’s overall mission and identify opportunities for people and organizations to engage.
  • Support the development of strategies to grow our online and offline community.

Community Event Engagement & Support

  • Work with the Capita team to co-develop the engagement plan for the community.
  • Assist with developing invite lists, sending invitations, and follow-ups for virtual and in-person events to boost attendance and participation.
  • Support event-day engagement by welcoming participants, moderating chat, or facilitating networking opportunities.
  • Follow up with attendees post-event to gather feedback and nurture ongoing engagement.

Experience and skills expected of the post holder

  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in both oral and written English
  • Excellent knowledge of a range of digital platforms, social media, particularly LinkedIn, AI, and web content best practices.
  • Keen insight into how to drive both targeted reach and engagement on digital channels.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work to deadlines.
  • High level of comfort in working with external contractors and partners.
  • Proven ability to carry out and communicate ideas.
  • Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, and belonging and a willingness to contribute to an inclusive work environment and society.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to issues impacting young children, their families, and their communities, especially those furthest from opportunity.
  • Excellent team player, comfortable with working closely with others based in different countries and settings.
  • Self-starter who thrives working remotely for a global organization.
