The First Exchange\u00a0Event<\/a>\u00a0will take place in Lima during the week of the 24th March. It will be hosted by the\u00a0Instituto de Estudios Peruanos<\/a>\u00a0(IEP). IEP is a\u00a0Think Tank Initiative\u00a0<\/a>grantee and is also celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2014. Preparation<\/h2>\n

In Preparation we have asked each participant to prepare a\u00a0short paper on their institution\u2019s experience with collaborations<\/a>, what has worked, what hasn\u2019t, what are the barriers.<\/p>\n

Another participant will act as \u2018discussant\u2019 to the paper during the workshop.\u00a0This will serve a few purposes:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. It is an ice breaker \u2013 gives everyone something to present, discuss, talk about.<\/li>\n
  2. It provides a benchmark or baseline to help assess what the eventual collaborations achieve.<\/li>\n
  3. It provides a start for reflection on what is necessary for the action learning aspect of the project.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Event outline -to be defined in greater detail with IEP and the participants in he next couple of weeks<\/h2>\n

    The following outline presents the basic structure of the 4 day event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

    PM<\/td>\nCollaborative research project<\/td>\nPresentation and discussion on what is expected of the collaborative research projects: putting together a proposal.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Day 3<\/td>\nAM<\/td>\nPolicy issue<\/td>\nKey note presentation from IEP and discussion. The presentation ought to be a trigger for a broader discussion during which the participants can highlight their own interests, too.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Day 4<\/td>\nAM<\/td>\nMatchmaking<\/td>\nParticipants get a chance to learn a bit more about each other organisations and discuss possible collaboration projects. This is a chance to ask questions that may not have been answered during the last few days.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    PM<\/td>\nPeer assist<\/td>\nParticipants have the chance to present their own challenges and get help from their peers or just share their experiences freely. This is also an opportunity to continue working on planning the collaborative Policy\/OD projects.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    At the centre of our efforts is to help the participants learn more about each other.
